Maxi Dress Obsessed + 10 Styles Under $100

One trend that sticks around season after season is the Maxi Dress. This summer they were a hot item among women of all shapes and sizes, including me! During my honeymoon I wore the pictured look for a festive night out in Crete, Greece. The dress is by Lulus, not only am I obsessed with the color but I absolutely love the shape. A wrap dress is always a good choice in my book. I decided to keep it simple by adding a pair of hoop earrings into the mix. If you haven’t added a maxi dress into your wardrobe here are a few reasons why you should jump on board:

1. It makes you look taller

Maxi dresses are a great way to elongate the figure. I love to wear them with heels and since you can’t see where my hips begin my legs automatically appear to be longer.

2. Maxi dresses show off your figure!

Whether you want to show off your curves of hide them. There are dozens of styles from fitted to flowy that can create a slim illusion in all the right places.

3. They are an easy (think free) outfit option

If you’re in a rush to work, or for a night out with friends a maxi is a great “think free” option. Just throw it on a go!

4. Comfort!

Of course, who doesn’t want comfort? Wearing jeans can feel like your circulation is being cut off. Take a break and let your body breath in a flowy maxi that makes you feel like you’re naked. Go little bird, be free!

5. Baby bump friendly

Don’t get any ideas – no babies for Andy and I just yet. Tip number 5 was inspired by my friends! Two of them were pregnant this summer and I have to say their favorite outfit option was the maxi dress. Not only for its comfort but maxi dresses have such a beautiful way of showing off a baby belly. Plus, they just look so flattering on any shape!

1. Tie a knot

If you have a petite figure or you just want to add a little edge to your look try tying a knot to the bottom of your maxi dress. I love this addition to casual, cotton fabrics. For me, it’s a great way to avoid stepping on my dress (#shortpeopleproblems.) Throw on a pair of converse and you’re out the door!

2. Add a belt

If you want to show off your waist adding a belt is a great way to accessorize. If you have a short torso a slim, thin belt will look the most flattering. It’s also a great way to dress up a casual look. I’m a huge fan of big buckles at the moment!

3. Dress it up with Jewels

I love layering necklaces especially if your Maxi dress has a pretty neckline. For V-shaped styles I love adding a Turkish Tribal Necklace – it’s a statement look that is sure to turn heads.

4. Add layers

If you like to keep things simple – a denim jacket is always a great addition or add a t-shirt underneath!
